Small explorers on a big mission: experiencing emergency lighting

If children visit with curiosity, enthusiasm and countless questions, it creates some very special moments. We recently had the pleasure of welcoming the nursery group of a colleague’s son to our premises, and together we explored the question of what emergency lighting actually is and why it can be so important in many situations.

Children observe their environment closely, ask questions and learn particularly effectively when they are allowed to discover things for themselves. That is precisely why our aim was to bring the topic of emergency lighting to life in a playful way and to show how emergency lighting provides guidance and makes escape routes visible. This helps to foster a first awareness of why emergency lighting is so important in everyday life.

Together with our supporters dinO and Säbi, the children started at the puppet theatre, where an exciting story made a technically complex and standards-driven topic easy to understand. They then set off on a journey of discovery with a ‘light explorers’ treasure hunt’: working in small teams, the children solved puzzles, revealed hidden messages using UV light and worked together to gather clues for the treasure chest’s code. This allowed them to literally grasp the concept of emergency lighting and experience it through their own discoveries.

We were very impressed by the enthusiasm and curiosity of our young visitors. It was wonderful to see the joy with which they discovered new things, asked questions and learnt through play. And who knows – perhaps tomorrow’s experts in emergency lighting were already among our young guests.
