Revitalisation
In this project, an emergency sign had to be installed in a very confined space between the baffles of a sound-absorbing ceiling. This posed a particular challenge, as every electrical product must be protected against accidental contact and must therefore not be exposed. Unfortunately, a housing for the electronics was too large in this case.
Due to the limited space available, a special solution had to be found to ensure the necessary protection and to install the electronics safely and securely. Careful planning and innovative approaches were required here in order to ultimately avoid having to compromise on safety or functionality.
In order to adequately protect the electronics, we had to find creative solutions, as standardised approaches were not feasible here. The electronics had to be housed in a casing, which was ultimately realised with a wooden pendant. For the installation of emergency signs, we generally offer suspended solutions using cable suspensions. In this particular case, however, this was not possible as the housing of a cable suspension would have been too large for the space available between the baffles. We therefore developed a customised solution in the form of a specially manufactured wooden pendant. This could be mounted precisely between the baffles and stabilised the attached emergency sign. A special cut-out was made at the top of the pendulum to feed through the electronic cables. Once the prototype had been created and approved, we were able to realise an elegant solution in which the electronic cables were routed inside the baffles to the connection side of the emergency sign.
Monument protection
Long-standing partnerships with electricians helped our din experts to quickly identify the problem. The edge luminaire was integrated into the existing hole and additional power spots were mounted on the ceiling to brighten it up.

The installation of emergency lighting was required on a listed building in Vienna. However, according to the requirements of the monument protection authorities, no measures could be taken to integrate the emergency lighting into existing structures and walls.
