Replacing light bulbs with LEDs in continuous operation

« Back

Emergency lighting, which serves as general lighting, can be an integral part of the overall lighting system. In this project, the conventional incandescent lamps had already been replaced by modern, energy-efficient LEDs so that they could also be used in continuous operation. However, it proved impossible to use the LEDs as emergency lighting in continuous operation as they did not meet the required standards.

Our challenge was to develop suitable emergency luminaires that could be used both in continuous operation and in emergencies and could be integrated in the same housing as the general luminaire. It was particularly important to cover the emergency luminaire with opal glass so that there was no visual difference between the LED bulb and the emergency luminaire. The light colour and illumination therefore had to be identical. By calculating and testing several variants of the emergency luminaires, we were finally able to find the right solution. In this way, we were able to guarantee both the function in continuous operation and our 50,000 h / 5.7 years din full guarantee.
