The village within the village

San Martino Primary School

With its simple structures and gabled roofs, the school building blends into the heart of the village and adapts to the slope, in keeping with tradition. It was built from wood, a sustainable and locally available material. This combines environmental friendliness and aesthetics, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Based on the concept of a ‘village within a village’, the school was designed as a sequence of flexible spaces: there are no conventional classrooms, but rather ‘learning houses’, an entrance hall as a ‘house for everyone’ and a library as a ‘house of books’. The aim is to support an open approach to education that focuses on social interaction and the independent growth of the pupils.

INDIVIDUALITY IN CONTEMPORARY STYLE

A decentralised group battery system PLC24 SU NET with luminaires from the BASIC 2 and Spots series was installed for the emergency lighting. The spots, manufactured in RAL black, provide targeted lighting for escape routes and panic areas. They blend inconspicuously into the architecture and transform a technical detail into a design element that is in harmony with the identity of the project.
