Dynamic adaptive escape routing

FSU - The new emergency lighting

The siren sounds, the light goes out and one thing is clear: You need to get out. As fast as possible!

Particularly in the dark or when smoke develops, there is often panic and disorientation. In such cases, it is all the more important to use the right escape route. The escape route scenario switching meets the latest state of research and technology and is therefore not only the future, but rather THE NEW EMERGENCY LIGHT.

More safety

With the escape route scenario switching, a 30% faster escape is possible in emergency situations.

More senses

The FSU Audio system additionally appeals to the 2nd sense and enables the announcement of alternative escape routes for mobility or visually impaired persons.

More scenarios

With the FSU solution, it is possible to cover all emergency lighting scenarios without having to compromise on the defined protection target.

How do people behave in emergency situations?

Authorities, fire protection experts, planners and the current state of science are in agreement: Escape route guidance systems that appeal to more senses and cover additional emergency scenarios make a decisive contribution to increasing personal safety in buildings. With the FSU solution, it is possible to point out the optimal escape route in all conceivable emergency scenarios, thus enabling a 30 % faster escape.

STRING 2 FSU

FSU luminaire portfolio

In some cases, escape routes may be limited in time or not usable at all. Blocked emergency exits must therefore be safely marked so that the correct escape route is used immediately in an emergency. With the STRING 2 FSU portfolio, you will expand the spectrum of your classic emergency lighting components and use the efficient lighting technology of the STRING 2 luminaire family.

INDUSTRY FSU

FSU luminaire portfolio

With the INDUSTRY FSU, various escape route scenarios can be covered even in areas with difficult environmental conditions. Whether temporarily visible, with locking function or with changeable direction indication – we have the right solution with IP66 protection.

The pressure compensation element additionally protects the light in areas with high humidity and prevents moisture from condensing inside the luminaire.

INDUSTRY X32 FSU

FSU luminaire portfolio

The INDUSTRY X32 FSU is a flexible all-round luminaire that covers a wide range of escape route scenarios. The escape signs have a recognition range of up to 30m, making them particularly suitable for areas with a high mounting height.

Effectiveness of emergency lighting systems

The requirements for buildings are becoming increasingly complex. Escape routes can change depending on the use of the building or the hazardous situation. In an emergency, only 38 % of people find their way out with conventional emergency lighting. Dynamic escape signs, additionally supported by audible instructions, can increase the effectiveness of emergency lighting to 87 %.

Active escape routing for targeted evacuation

In addition to the emergency lighting requirements for mains failure and fire, there are numerous other emergency scenarios such as bomb threats, accidents involving the release of hazardous substances, terrorist attacks or rampages. The FSU is a cost-efficient system engineering measure to be able to achieve the legally defined protection target for all scenarios.

With escape route scenario switching, you can technically implement all your escape route scenarios.

Escape route scenarios

Escape routes can change in different situations.

Static FSU

If an escape route is not passable, this must be indicated. If there is an emergency lighting request, such as a mains failure, the scenario deliberately remains unchanged with the static FSU – the escape route remains impassable.

Dynamic FSU

With a dynamic FSU safety guidance system, the direction indication can be changed at any time. In case of danger, the system reacts situationally to the respective scenario and displays the correct escape route.

Achieve the defined protection target for all scenarios

More scenarios

Escape routes may change, emergency exits may be temporarily impassable due to changes in building use or in case of fire. With the FSU solution, you can technically implement multi-purpose uses, building extensions and planned escape route closures at no additional cost and at the same time increase the safety level in the building.

Did you know?

9,5 m / second

The fastest runner in the world runs 9.5 metres per second. Smoke spreads 10 metres per second. This means that not even the fastest person in the world can run away from the smoke. Every second counts.

96 cases

An emergency lighting system contributes 100% to avoiding panic. Out of 100 deployments, 96 are power failures and four are fires.

1 minute

A fleeing person needs approx. 1 minute for a 40 metre escape route.

95 %

95% of fire victims die from the effects of smoke fumes because they are in the smoke-filled area for too long.

5,000 to 10,000 m³

A fire produces approx. 5,000 to 10,000 m³ of dark smoke per hour.

Increased effectiveness

The effectiveness of emergency lighting increases from 38% to 87% when additional dynamic visual and acoustic signals are used.
